No. 354 Tran Hung Dao, Phan Thiet

This was home in the spring of 1965. The company I worked for leased the building to house its four  British and American employees in Phan Thiet. There were four bedrooms and a living/dining room upstairs plus a kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor. The rear portion of the house, entered through the doors on the left, were sublet to the US Army as extra housing for their nearby advisory group.

I was told that the place was considered less than desirable as it had once been a French colonial police station, perhaps a haunted house.

Revisiting Phan Thiet in 2013, I found the old building still standing but in disrepair. A government office occupied the rear. The locals said that the place was destined to be torn down.

No. 354 Tran Hung Dao in October 2013. The bank building occupies the area once occupied by the Military Assistance Command (MACV) house.
